What are the Snap Academies?

The Snap Academies are nine-week, paid summer training programs hosted by Snap Inc., the makers of Snapchat. We provide high-potential students with the technical skills, professional network, and portfolio-building experience needed to launch a career in tech.

These are ambitious programs designed to provide meaningful career opportunities to students who face barriers to accessing the tech sector such as community college students and youth who may have experienced homelessness, foster care, or the juvenile justice system. Through these programs, we strive to prepare our young scholars for careers that may have been otherwise inaccessible to them. Note: As part of our inclusive process, we do not collect or consider race, gender, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics during the application process.

Through four specialized tracks—Snap Design Academy, Snap Engineering Academy, Snap Storytelling Academy, and Snap Lens Academy—students gain hands-on creative and technical skills, receive mentorship from Snap team members, and build meaningful connections that help launch their careers in technology and creative media.

Quick Facts

  • Receive an academy payment to develop your skills
  • Designed for community college (or recent transfer) students
  • This is a full-time commitment, Monday - Friday learning from June 15, 2026 - August 14, 2026
  • All learning equipment provided
  • There are four Snap Academies:
    • Snap Design, Engineering and Storytelling Academies are held in-person in Santa Monica, CA
    • Snap Lens Academy is held virtually via Zoom, and is open to all eligible US applicants

Applications for each Academy are live on Monday, March 2, 2026 and are due by Friday, April 10, 2026.
